• Answering the crisis line during shift hours;
• Provides advocacy services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, including assisting victims with law enforcement, courts, and medical systems;
• Conducts weekly support groups in Spanish;
• Provide outreach and education within the Latino community;
• Maintains client records on a daily basis and assures confidentiality;
• Provide clients with emotional support, transportation, and assistance with related helping agencies; and
• On call and other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Minimum Qualifications:    A demonstrated interest and verifiable experience in working with women’s issues, specifically domestic violence and sexual assault.   An associate degree in the human service/social science field and two years experience of working in a related area or an equivalent amount of education and experience will be accepted at the discretion of the Executive Director and Board of Directors.

Part-time weekend shelter counselors.

The part-time position provides weekend coverage at the shelter, working from 8:30 a.m. on Saturday morning until 8:30 a.m. Monday morning, with sleep time allowed.  Duties of the weekend shelter counselor include:

• Answering the crisis line during shift hours;
• Provides advocacy and goal planning for all shelter clients as needed;
• Assist shelter clients with law enforcement and medical systems;
• Maintains shelter client records on a daily basis and assures confidentiality;
• Provide clients with emotional support, limited transportation, and assistance with related helping agencies; and
• On call and other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

The weekend shelter counselor will receive $8.20/hour or $262.40 per weekend worked.
